Recruiting volunteer Board members

We are always looking out for new Board members to help us achieve the right mix of skills and experience to match our business needs. Skills and knowledge that we would love to see represented on our Board just now are in the areas of HR / Employment / Equalities & Diversity, and members with experience of technical aspects of the Construction Industry.

Equally, we are always very keen to attract people who have had experience of our services as customers and who are committed to help us improve those services.

What is most important to us is that Board members share our core values and objectives, possess an inquiring mind and demonstrate a willingness to challenge.

Collectively, the Board is responsible for exercising scrutiny, establishing organisational strategy and objectives and for monitoring operational performance, and we are currently looking to strengthen our overall governance through the appointment of a number of Board Members.

All positions are voluntary but reasonable expenses to facilitate attendance at meetings will be paid. Induction and further training will also be provided.

Notes:

In the first instance, successful applicants will join the Board as co-optees, until formal election by the Membership at the AGM in September. Board members are expected to attend ten evening meetings in the year plus four quarterly meetings for one chosen sub-committee, and annual planning and review meetings. Meetings are traditionally held at the Association’s offices in Kilmarnock but we are currently using virtual methods and are considering hybrid arrangements for meeting attendance in the future.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their skills and experience, and help make a difference to people’s lives. Please contact us at info@atrium-homes.co.uk or call 01563 528816 for an informal discussion with Shannon Watson, Chief Executive.
